Paul Onuachu hopes on Super Eagles Chance

By Jude Opara

FC Midtjylland of Denmark forward Paul Onuachu says he hopes to get a look- in by Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Gernot Rohr ahead of the forthcoming international friendly against the national team of Congo.

The 23 year old who missed the chance of getting a call-up for the two international friendly matches against Poland and Serbia said he has fully recovered and started banging goals for his team. He was indeed on the scorers’ sheet in their 2-1 win over Nordsjaelland.

Onuachu who missed two months of league action due to an injury he picked up in their game against Horsens in February had ironically scored his last goal in that same game before netting again over the weekend.

Last season Onuachu who is also known as the ‘Peter Crouch of Nigeria’ due to his towering height scored 18 league goals from 36 with another nine goals at the start of the season in Denmark before he got injured.

Perhaps that superlative feat caught the attention of the Super Eagles handler, Gernot Rohr who had earlier indicated interest of inviting him for the friendlies.

” I was supposed to be in the Nigerian squad for the last set of friendly games against Poland and Serbia but I was injured by the time the squad was released. ‎now I’m back and hoping to get a look in soon” Onuachu revealed from his base in Denmark.

” My aim is to get back to scoring goals like I was doing before I got injured and hopefully I will make it hard for coach Gernot Rohr to ignore me. He is aware of me and that is a motivation I need to build on”, he concluded.
