PSG demand 250 million euros for Neymar

Barcelona Only Coutinho could lower the price

Despite being open to his sale,Paris Saint-Germainare holding out for a 250 million euro fee forNeymar.

BothBarcelona and Real Madridare keen on the Brazilian’s signing, thoughNeymaris believed to prefer a return to Catalonia.

One of the challenges forBarcelonais thatPSGwould prefer to sell to any club other than the Blaugrana with past incidents, such as the manner in which the Catalans pursuedMarco Verrattiin 2017, rupturing relations between the two entities.

Yet, given the difficulty of finding another buyer for the wantaway star,PSGhave agreed to speak withBarcelona, though theLigue 1champions are now demanding a quarter of a billion euros.

After spending 120 million euros onAntoine Griezmannearlier this summer, which required a loan to fund the move, such a fee forNeymarwould prove implausible.

Barcelonahave sought to temptPSGwith several players in a part-exchange deal, includingSamuel Umtiti, Ivan Rakitic, Ousmane DembeleandPhilippe Coutinho, though only the latter interests the Parisians.

ShouldBarcelonamanage to get a deal over the line, not all problems would be resolved either as, on the field,Neymar‘s arrival would mean one ofDembele,Luis SuarezandGriezmannwould have to settle for a place on the bench.

As it stands,Barcelonawould settle on a cash-plus-Coutinho deal thoughPSG‘s elevated asking price appears unrealistic considering the Catalans’ current situation.
